Our Commitment
Doing things the right way since 1968.
When the first Red Lobster opened in 1968, we knew exactly where every piece of seafood came from. Today, we still do – even as the largest seafood-buying restaurant in the world with over 700 locations in the United States, Canada and around the world. As we’ve grown, so has our commitment to creating and upholding standards that ensure availability of seafood for generations.
Setting the Standard
ACTIVE LEADERSHIP
Red Lobster is committed to taking a leadership position in conserving and protecting every kind of seafood we source and serve. That’s why we’re proud to sit on the Board of Directors for both the National Fisheries Institute and Global Aquaculture Alliance, now Global Seafood Assurances. It’s also why we helped write the Law of the Sea, and worked to establish the industry’s first standards around freshness and safety.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
From the very beginning, we understood the importance of establishing face-to-face relationships with our seafood suppliers. They know we demand seafood of the highest quality, and we require them to supply it in ways that are traceable, sustainable, and responsible.
Year after year, Red Lobster is proud to work exclusively with suppliers who share our passion and commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing.
We are committed to sourcing our seafood in ways that minimize impacts on ocean and freshwater environments – and to work to drive continuous improvement within our supply chain to ensure there is seafood now and for generations
We are proud to partner with Ocean Conservancy, a leading ocean conservation nonprofit, to support the protection and preservation of the world’s oceans. The partnership focuses on two programs: The Global Ghost Gear Initiative, which focuses on driving solutions to the problem of lost and abandoned fishing gear, and the Trash Free Seas Alliance®, which unites leaders to mitigate plastic waste entering the oceans.
Our efforts with Ocean Conservancy extend both to our suppliers and our guests to help raise awareness of the issues impacting our oceans and enable collaboration to find meaningful, science-based solutions.
